------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ June 09, 2010Gear Restriction Information for Junior, U-17, U-15 and U-13 RacersThe Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI, governing body for bicycle racing worldwide) has set limits on the highest gear ratio that is legal for Junior riders and the Canadian Cycling Association has set limits for U-13, U-15, U-17 riders. These limits are in place to prevent young riders from pushing hard gears and encourages them to "spin" rather than "grind". This is good for skill development and protects young riders from damaging their developing joints. Please be advised that we will be enforcing the gear ratio limits for all Junior, U-17, U-15 and U-13 riders at the Provincial Championships in Riverport on 20 June, and at all BNS races thereafter. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ May 07, 2009UPDATED: 2009 Road Racing Point Series RulesEach Race/Stage/Prologue/ITT will get the following points according to the final results sheet. 1. 100 points. Bonus: Overall stage race winners get the following bonus: To qualify for points, the rider must be a licensed member of BNS or CCA. Non NS riders will qualify for the point series but NOT provincial championships. CCA riders will be given the points earned for the races they enter but due to logistics they will not qualify for the provincial trophies. Therefore if an out-of-province rider finishes 1st, 2nd, or 3rd they will not receive a trophy. The next NS rider will be awarded the trophy. BNS will do its best to post current point standings on the BNS website for your review. Points will be up for review until 3 weeks past final race. At that point standings will be final and awards will be ordered. Please review and contact Paul Goodyear at p_goodyear@hotmail.com prior to start of first race. After the first race is completed this point scheme will be official. Any comments please contact Paul Goodyear at p_goodyear@hotmail.com
