Kentville Canada Cup thrills for 2nd year running!

If you were wondering why MTB trails around the province were vacant this weekend, we'll forgive you for not following the National MTB Circuit. For the second year running, riders from all over Nova Scotia (along with folks from New Brunswick, Ontario, Quebec, Alberta, British Columbia and Maine) descended on the Gorge in Kentville to attend the final leg of the Canada Cup MTB points-series. The 2019 Kentville Canada Cup is a high-level XCO mountain biking competition that attracts riders from across Canada (as well as international competitors). Twenty-Eight Competitive Cycling Events Scheduled in Nova Scotia for 2016 Bicycle Nova Scotia released its 2016 race calendar, with 28 competitive events across the province including road racing, cross country mountain bike races and gravity (downhill) events. “We have seen an increasing interest over the past few years, in cycling competition – as well as in the type of competitive events that people want to participate in” says Lisa McInnis, Events Coordinator for the provincial cycling organization. “It is a testament to the growth of cycling in Nova Scotia generally.” Cycling races will be held throughout the province, with the first on April 24th and the last held on December 11th. “We’ve seen a real investment in trail infrastructure and ...

East Meets West – MTB racing in Manitoba

Between the end of April and early July this year, I was sent to Winnipeg, Manitoba on short notice for a career related course. Since I was going to be there for the majority of the 2015 MTB racing season, I brought my bike with me as I intended to participate in the various races and events within the province. I participated in a total of 7 races, 5 Manitoba Cup XCO style races, and 2 recreational XC races.
