Home » Athlete Development » Coaching December 05, 2007Canada Games StaffBicycle Nova Scotia is looking for candidates for the staff of the 2009 BNS Canada Games Cycling Team that will compete in PEI in August 2009. BNS is accepting resumes for two coach positions and one manager. Coach ( 2 positions available) Both coaches must be fully certified as level three or higher, or the equivalent in the new NCCP, Competition stream, Development context (Trained status). The requisite certification must be in place not later than 90 days before the opening of the Games (May 17, 2009). In addition to the above requirement, one coach must be fully certified level two (technical & practical) for Mountain Bike, and the other coach must be fully certified level two (technical & practical) for Road. Equivalency under the new NCCP would be: Competition stream, Introduction context (Trained status) – one coach with a specialization for Mountain Bike, and the other coach with a specialization for Road. Also, one coach must be female and the other male. Manager (1 position available) The manager does not need to have the same qualifications as the coaches, but ideally would have at least NCCP Level one or equivalent, and commissaire courses. Please send your resumes to staff at bicycle.ns.ca by December 31, 2007. Note: If you are not certified Level III, please include your plan on how you will become certified in time for the games.

Please contact Simon Myatt (president at bicycle .ns.ca) if you would like to be one of the Nova Scotian athletes by Monday Dec 17, 2007 This program has been developed to let riders start the competition ladder of the Canadian Cycling Association’s Long Team Athlete Development (LTAD), more specifically, at the TRAIN TO TRAIN stage. The program creates a gradual step from club coaching and provincial level coaching to the National Cycling Centre’s existing Giant Elite Program. This new group of athletes is our future 2009 Canada Games and 2016 Olympic athlete pool. For the last 5 years, the Centre’s Elite program has been one of the most successful ones in Canada, and we are not simply happy to be on any start line any more… we are there to compete and win! Please forward the names and contact information of athletes that you think would fit well within the new Provincial Tier Program. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.
