Atlantic Cycling Centre

The Atlantic Cycling Centre in Dieppe NB, is accepting applications for Bicycle Nova Scotia's 6 Provincial Tier Programs spots.

Please contact Simon Myatt (president at bicycle .ns.ca) if you would like to be one of the Nova Scotian athletes by Monday Dec 17, 2007

This program has been developed to let riders start the competition ladder of the Canadian Cycling Association’s Long Team Athlete Development (LTAD), more specifically, at the TRAIN TO TRAIN stage. The program creates a gradual step from club coaching and provincial level coaching to the National Cycling Centre’s existing Giant Elite Program. This new group of athletes is our future 2009 Canada Games and 2016 Olympic athlete pool. For the last 5 years, the Centre’s Elite program has been one of the most successful ones in Canada, and we are not simply happy to be on any start line any more… we are there to compete and win!

A few highlights of the program:
Athlete gets entry into ACC programs, and a coach to work with through the centre.
$100 from Athlete
$100 from PSO per athlete
$200 matching services from the ACC
At least 2 of the 6 athletes must be of the opposite sex.
At least 4 of the 6 athletes must be between the age 14 and 18 as of Deec 31/07
The athletes must compete in either of the Olympic disciplines (BMX, MTB XC, Road, or Track)
The athlete must be a member in good standing of their respective PSO.
The athlete is encouraged to continue to work with their personal coach if they have one.
The Centre will accept all candidates that the PSO nominates, if the athlete meets the required criteria listed above.
This program will see the Centre’s Assistant Coach work directly with the respective provincial coaches. Although this program can go without a provincial coach, it is strongly encouraged each PSO assign their provincial coach to this program. Such program will not only benefit to the athlete, but also serve as a mentorship program for the coaches.

Please forward the names and contact information of athletes that you think would fit well within the new Provincial Tier Program.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Yours in Sport
